Video: Renaturalization of the Zapardiel river

The Hydrographic Confederation of Duero has designed an action protocol for the de-channeling of the Zapardiel riverbed. The work has been carried out from the municipality of Mamblas (Ávila) to its mouth with the river Duero, with surprising and visible results in the short term. This allows the river to occupy the fluvial space at times of flooding, favouring the fertilisation of pastures and the entry of a greater quantity of water into the aquifers from which irrigation water is obtained for the crops.
